EMGS arrival process

International students must complete each stage below before and after arriving in Malaysia. EMGS (Education Malaysia Global Services) processes all student passes through educationmalaysia.gov.my.

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

    Receive your offer letter

Secure admission from a Malaysian higher education institution. Your university will provide the offer letter required to begin the EMGS process.

  2. 2

    Apply via EMGS

Submit your student pass application through the EMGS portal (educationmalaysia.gov.my) with academic documents, passport copy, and passport photo.

  3. 3

    Obtain your VAL

Once approved, receive your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) from EMGS. Track your application status online.

  4. 4

    Apply for entry visa

Apply for a Single Entry Visa (SEV) at the Malaysian embassy or consulate in your home country using your VAL.

  5. 5

    Travel to Malaysia

Arrive with your VAL, offer letter, passport, and required documents. Present them at immigration upon arrival.

  6. 6

    Health screening (within 7 days)

Complete your EMGS health examination at an approved panel clinic or public university health centre within seven working days of arrival.

  7. 7

    Student pass endorsement

After passing health screening, complete student pass endorsement at immigration and register with your university.
